New-to-me technology, but I will be anxious to learn about the 'recipes.' So far, only the shopping and to do lists are supported. Hey, third partyers! Let's get crackin" !

Can you explain what the IFTTT email is? I'm confused...

I'll try, but as I said, it is new to me as well.

IFTTT stands for "If This, Then That" . There is a web site that you have to visit and sign up for the service, (no charge). Then you can write "recipes" for certain interactions with the ECHO. For example, "IF I add an item to my to do list, THEN send an email to my smartphone." Kind of basic at the moment, but eventually I can see something like, "IF the local weather report has the temp. at 80 deg., THEN reprogram my thermostat for 74 deg.", or something to that effect. Or, "IF the time is 6:00 pm, THEN turn on the outdoor smart light bulbs."

The real value of IFTTT will emerge as new third party control apps are published, hence my exhortation to "get cracking' "
